Hi, I’m Peter H. Anderson

Coaching • Research • Education • Community
This website exists to bring together coaching, research, education, and thoughtful conversation for people who believe families are worth understanding—and, whenever possible, worth restoring.
For more than 15 years, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families facing some of life's most difficult relational challenges. My professional experience includes marriage and family therapy, personality disorders, attachment, emotional regulation, family systems, trauma, and conflict resolution. I am the founder of Anderson Family Therapy, serve as an adjunct professor at Endicott College, and continue to work as an on-call behavioral health clinician in hospital settings.
Through this coaching practice, my goal is to help people think more clearly about family relationships—not through simplistic narratives or one-size-fits-all solutions, but through curiosity, humility, evidence, and practical wisdom.

Personal coaching for parents, adult children, couples, and families navigating conflict, emotional cutoff, reconciliation, boundaries, communication, and difficult relationship dynamics.

Family conflict is often discussed in ways that emphasize only one perspective. I am committed to advancing a more balanced understanding through surveys, data collection, interviews, and ongoing research into family relationships, reconciliation, personality, attachment, and the many factors that contribute to both conflict and healing.

Access articles, videos, interviews, and practical resources designed to help families better understand communication, emotional regulation, personality, conflict, forgiveness, boundaries, and reconciliation.

Family conflict can be incredibly isolating. Through newsletters, educational events, and future community initiatives, my hope is to create a place where thoughtful conversations can happen, diverse perspectives are welcomed, and people know they are not alone.
I believe healthy families are built on honesty, humility, accountability, compassion, and courage.
I believe people are more than their worst moments.
I believe healthy boundaries and reconciliation are not opposites—they often work together.
I believe abuse should never be minimized, and safety must always come first.
I also believe that many family relationships can heal when people are willing to better understand themselves, communicate more effectively, and approach one another with greater wisdom and grace.
Not every family will reconcile.
But every person can grow.
My mission is to help people better understand family relationships, encourage meaningful dialogue about family conflict, contribute thoughtful research to this growing field, and provide practical coaching that helps individuals and families move toward greater wisdom, healthier relationships, and hope.
Whether you're looking for coaching, interested in participating in research, exploring educational resources, or simply searching for someone who understands the complexity of family relationships, I'm glad you're here.
